Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of chile de arbol rinsed and stemmed
  • 2 large plum tomatoes halved
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chiles
  • In a medium pot, add the arbol chiles and enough water to cover them. Bring the water to a boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let the chiles soak for 10 minutes. This softens the chiles and enhances their flavor.
  • Blend It Up
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer the softened chiles to a blender. Add ¾ cup of fresh water, tomatoes, garlic, and salt. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Taste and adjust the salt if needed.
