Description
A 3-ingredient healing turmeric tonic made with fresh turmeric, ginger, and lemon juice. A warm, anti-inflammatory morning drink that supports digestion, immunity, and detox.
Ingredients
1 Tbsp fresh grated turmeric (or 1/2 tsp ground)
1 Tbsp fresh grated ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground)
1 whole lemon (juiced, ~3 Tbsp)
1 pinch cayenne pepper or cracked black pepper (optional)
1–2 tsp maple syrup or raw honey (optional)
3 cups filtered water
Instructions
1. Add turmeric, ginger, lemon juice (and leftover rind), water, and optional cayenne and maple syrup to a small saucepan.
2. Warm over medium heat until it just begins to simmer (about 3 minutes). Do not boil.
3. Turn off heat and strain into mugs.
4. Drink warm. Store any strained leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Notes
Use fresh turmeric and ginger for best flavor and benefits.
Add black pepper or cayenne to increase absorption of curcumin.
Omit sweeteners for a sugar-free version.
